English Malayalam Dictionary

The Internet is a great resource for people who are bilingual or who aspire to be, and one of the best things about it is the simplicity of translating unknown words. A hard copy of a foreign-language newspaper may require a reader to keep a dictionary close at hand, but the Internet can integrate the dictionary right into your browser. English Malayalam Dictionary is an add-on for Chrome that does exactly what its name describes. It's pretty bare bones, but it's not bad if you need to translate an occasional word.
The add-on appears as an icon to the right of Chrome's address bar. Click the icon and a small dialog box opens with a space to enter text and a button labeled Look. Type or paste an English word into the box, click the button, and English Malayalam Dictionary provides a translation. The add-on can't handle more than one word at a time, so don't expect to translate blocks of text with it. It also only translates in one direction; we entered multiple Malayalam words into the text box and repeatedly got a message that read "Word not found!" We feel certain that there are more comprehensive Malayalam translators online, and those who need a lot of help may wish to seek one of them out. For Chrome users who only occasionally need to translate an English word in to Malayalam, though, English Malayalam Dictionary is a fine choice.
